Evans Street Upgrade, Maroochydore, QLD
Sunshine Coast Regional Council recently completed a road upgrade at Maroochydore’s Evans Street. The upgrade involved widening the road to four lanes and integrating the intersections joining Plaza Parade, Evans Street and Maroochydore Road. The new lanes are expected to assist traffic flow through the signalised intersections.
Project Design Brief
The creation of several turning lanes in a restricted corridor highlighted the importance of surface water management. Designers wanted to ensure all stormwater runoff would be effectively intercepted to eliminate ponding against the centre median. A continuous inlet capture system was deemed the most effective method.
ACO's Solution
- TraffikDrain TD200 with Hi-Flo grates
- ACO’s Technical Services Department provided the project engineers with exact hydraulic performance data to advise on the appropriate spacing of the gully pits to evacuate the flow of water from the channel
Benefits
- The large openings of the Hi-Flo grate ensure runoff is intercepted and directed into the channel system.
- Anti-shunt lugs built into the channel rail seat ensure dynamic wheel movements do not dislodge grates.
