Maroochydore City Centre, Sunshine Coast, QLD
The Queensland Government has selected Maroochydore as one of its Priority Development Areas (PDA). The city therefore has undergone rapid transformation to become the business, community and employment hub of the Sunshine Coast. The Maroochydore City Centre will be strategic in building and strengthening the region with a blend of residential, commercial, retail, civic and community buildings.
Project Design Brief
Planners identified several arterial roads within the Maroochydore City Centre precinct that required significant drainage upgrades. Due to the restricted space available, it was not feasible to add additional conventional kerb inlet pits as existing services would have to be relocated and the State Government would need to exercise a land resumption. Designers therefore needed a compact drainage system to capture surface water runoff efficiently without the need for deep excavation. The system needed access points for maintenance.
ACO's Solution
- KerbDrain QK200B
- ACO’s Technical Services Department assisted designers with hydraulic performance data of the KerbDrain system and accurate slot intake capacities
Benefits
- Unlike conventional kerb and gutter systems, KerbDrain transforms kerbs into continuous capture inlet structures with minimal excavation
- The profile of the KerbDrain QK200B is the same as TMR’s Type 5 Barrier Kerb ensuring visual continuity and smooth transition with existing kerbs
- KerbDrain Access Units can be positioned along the drainage runs to ensure easy access for rodding maintenance
